description: TRIATEC is a drug that contains the active substance ramipril. Triatec is indicated for mild to moderate hypertension, congestive heart failure, post-myocardial infarction therapy in heart failure patients, and prevention of heart disease in people at high risk. This drug works as an ACE inhibitor, ramipril is a prodrug of ramiprilat. Ramiprilat competitively and reversibly binds ACE thereby inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II (a strong vasoconstrictor) and the breakdown of bradykinin (a vasodilator) which results in vasodilation and also reduces aldosterone secretion. When using this medication, you must ACCORD TO THE DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS. Side effects that may occur when using the drug are:
Angioedema (e.g. head and neck angioedema, intestinal angioedema), hyperkalemia, hypotension (with or without syncope, orthostatic), cholestatic jaundice, syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH), hyponatremia; rarely, hematological effects (e.g. neutropenia or agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, anemia); cough, kidney disorders and/or increased serum creatinine, anaphylactoid/anaphylactic reactions.
Heart problems: Chest pain, arrhythmia.
Gastrointestinal disorders: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth, inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, indigestion, abdominal discomfort, dyspepsia, constipation, dysgeusia.
Common disorders and administration site conditions: Asthenia, fatigue.
Musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders: Myalgia, muscle spasms.
Nervous system disorders: Headache, dizziness, paresthesia, vertigo.
Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders: Bronchitis, sinusitis, dyspnea.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: maculopapular rash, alopecia.
Potentially Fatal: Rarely, pancreatitis, airway obstruction (due to angioedema of the tongue, glottis or larynx), fulminant hepatic necrosis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis.

Warning: MUST BE WITH A DOCTOR'S PRESCRIPTION.
Patients with severe hypertension, decompensated CHF, relevant left ventricular inflow or outflow obstruction (e.g. aortic or mitral valve stenosis), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with outflow tract obstruction, unilateral or bilateral renal artery stenosis without stents, volume or salt depletion, liver cirrhosis and /or ascites, transient or persistent post-MI heart failure, ischemic heart disease or cerebrovascular disease, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, hypoaldosteronism, acute cardiac decompensation, metabolic acidosis, collagen disease (e.g. SLE or scleroderma), history of airway surgery. Dehydrated patient. Patients undergoing major surgery or during anesthesia. Desensitizing treatment (e.g. hymenoptera venom). black race. Kidney and liver disorders. Elderly.

Pregnancy category:
Category D: Proven risk to the fetus.
