- Cefixime should not be given to patients who can still be treated with other antibiotics. If necessary, it should be administered with caution.
- Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the ingredients in the preparation or to other cephalosporin antibiotics.
- Cefixime should be administered with caution to the following patients:
1. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillin.
2. Patients with a personal or familial history of various forms of allergies such as bronchial asthma, rash and urticaria.
3. Patients with severe kidney function disorders.
4. Patients with low oral nutrition, those who are receiving parenteral nutrition, elderly patients or those who are weak. Patients should be observed as symptoms of vitamin K deficiency may occur.
- Use during pregnancy:
The safety of using cefixime during pregnancy has not been proven. Cefixime should only be given if the therapeutic benefits outweigh the possible risks.
- Use in breastfeeding women:
It is not yet known whether cefixime is excreted in breast milk. Therefore, it is best not to breastfeed during therapy with this drug.
- Use in children:
The safety and effectiveness of using cefixime in children less than 6 months of age has not been proven (including newborns and premature babies).
