Sutent is a drug containing sunitinib malate which works by inhibiting the formation of tyrosine kinase receptors, some of which can have an effect on tumor formation. Sutent functions for patients who have GI stromal tumors (GIST) that cannot be treated by imatinib mesatin due to resistance to the drug, patients who have metastatic renal cell carcinoma (MRCC) that cannot be treated by cytokine-based therapy and patients who have pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (pNET).

Warning: Patients with a history of heart dysfunction (eg heart failure, cardiomyopathy, MI, myocardial ischemia); history of QT prolongation; bradycardia, electrolyte imbalance, thyroid dysfunction, underlying or uncontrolled HTN. The patient underwent major surgery. Liver and kidney disorders. Pregnancy. Concurrent use with strong CYP3A4 enzyme inhibitors and inducers should be avoided, if not possible, consider dose adjustment.
