description: SAGESTAM 0.1% Ointment is a topical preparation in the form of an ointment used to treat skin diseases caused by infection by sensitive bacteria. Sagestam contains Gentamicin, which belongs to the aminoglycoside class of antibiotics which is widely used, especially to treat infections caused by gram-negative bacteria, such as Pseudomonas, Proteus, Serratia, and Staphylococcus. Gentamicin is also used for septicemia (blood poisoning by pathogenic bacteria and/or substances produced by these bacteria), meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain), urinary tract infections, respiratory tract, digestive tract, infections of the skin, bones and soft tissue.
