description: S-OMEVELL is a drug containing Esomeprazole. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) class of drugs. Esomeprazole has the effect of reducing stomach acid production. This drug is used for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and other conditions caused by increased stomach acid such as erosive esophageal reflux. This drug is also used for peptic ulcers caused by H. Pylori in combination therapy and those caused by taking NSAIDs. Esomeprazole is the S-isomer of omeprazole which works by inhibiting the hydrogen-potassium adenosine triphosphatase enzyme system (proton pump) of gastric parietal cells. This inhibition causes inhibition of gastric acid secretion. When using this medication, you must ACCORD TO THE DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS.
