Warning: MUST BE WITH A DOCTOR'S PRESCRIPTION. Excessive alcohol consumption and/or a history of liver disease, secondary hypercholesterolemia caused by hypothyroidism or nephrotic syndrome. Perform liver function tests before therapy and 3 months later. Patients should be advised to immediately report any complaints of unexplained muscle pain, weakness or muscle cramps, especially if accompanied by fever or symptoms of feeling unwell. Monitor for increased creatinine kinase levels. Patients with shared predisposing factors with gembrozil. Doses above 40 mg are contraindicated for use with fibrates. Advanced age > 70 years. Pregnancy category: Category X: Contraindicated (not to be used). There are research results on test animals and humans that show abnormalities in the fetus. This drug is contraindicated for pregnant women and those who may become pregnant.
