description: ROSWIN 40 MG 10 TABLET contains the active ingredient Rosuvastatin. Rosuvastatin is a type of drug in the class of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors or called statins. This drug is used as a diet addition to reduce increases in total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo-B & triglycerides and increase HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, combined hyperlipidemia (mixed) & heterozygous & homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia if the response to diet & other non-pharmacological measures is not adequate. When using this medication, you must ACCORD TO THE DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS. Warning: MUST BE WITH A DOCTOR'S PRESCRIPTION. Patients who consume excessive amounts of alcohol and/or have a history of liver disease. Perform liver function tests before and 3 months after starting treatment. Stop treatment or reduce the dose if serum transaminase levels are >3 times the upper limit of normal. Patients should immediately report unexplained muscle pain or weakness, especially if associated with malaise or fever. Measuring creatinine kinase levels. Stop treatment if creatinine kinase levels are >5 times the upper limit of normal or if muscle symptoms are severe & cause daily discomfort even if creatinine kinase levels are 5 times the upper limit of normal. Treatment should not be initiated if repeat testing confirms a baseline creatinine kinase level >5 times the upper limit of normal. Patients at high risk of developing diabetes Dizziness may occur which can impair the ability to drive & operate machinery. Pregnancy Category: Category C: Possible risk. Drugs are used with caution if the benefits obtained outweigh the risks to the fetus. Research on animal tests shows risks to the fetus and there has been no direct research on pregnant women. Consult medical personnel if you are breastfeeding.
