description: Prolon is a drug containing Methylprednisolone (Methylprednisolone). Methylprednisolone belongs to the corticosteroid group with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant effects. This drug can be used for rheumatism, inflammation of the large intestine, and other diseases that require therapy with corticosteroids. This drug works by preventing inflammation. In tissues, corticosteroids regulate subsequent release of gene expression to bind to specific intracellular receptors and translocation to the nucleus. Cardiovascular, immunological, musculoskeletal, endocrine, and neurologic physiologic are affected by corticosteroids. Decreased migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and reversal of increased capillary permeability lead to decreased inflammation.
