Pregnancy: As is known for drugs that inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, the use of etoricoxib should be avoided in late pregnancy because it can cause premature closure of the ductus arteriosus. There are no adequate controlled studies on the use of etoricoxib in pregnant women. Etoricoxib can be given in the first two trimesters of pregnancy only if the benefits outweigh the possible risks to the fetus. Breastfeeding: Etoricoxib is excreted in mouse milk. It is not known whether this drug is also excreted in breast milk. Due to the fact that many drugs are excreted in breast milk and the possibility of side effects due to prostaglandin synthesis inhibitor drugs in breastfed babies, the decision to no longer breastfeed or stop the drug must be made, while also considering the importance of administering the drug to breastfeeding mothers.
