description: NORVASK TABLET is an antihypertensive drug, Calcium Channel Blockers (CCB) or calcium antagonists in the Dihdropyridine group. This drug is used to treat hypertension or high blood pressure and helps prevent chest pain in angina pectoris patients. Amlodipine works by blocking calcium from entering the smooth muscle cells in the walls of the heart's blood vessels. Calcium is a substance that plays a role in muscle contraction. By inhibiting calcium, the amount of calcium entering muscle cells is reduced and blood vessels become more relaxed and dilated, thereby increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. Furthermore, there will be a decrease in strength and heart rate, resulting in a decrease in blood pressure and is useful in preventing chest pain. However, Amlodipine is not intended for treatment during angina attacks. As a result, it lowers blood pressure so that it can prevent angina.
