description: NEXIUM MUPS 20 MG is a drug that contains Esomeprazole 20 mg. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) class of drugs. Esomeprazole has the effect of reducing stomach acid production. This drug is used for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and other conditions caused by increased stomach acid such as erosive esophageal reflux. This drug is also used for peptic ulcers caused by H. Pylori in combination therapy and those caused by taking NSAIDs. Esomeprazole is the S-isomer of omeprazole which works by inhibiting the hydrogen-potassium adenosine triphosphatase enzyme system (proton pump) of gastric parietal cells. This inhibition causes inhibition of gastric acid secretion. When using this medication, you must ACCORD TO THE DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS. how_to_use: Consume on an empty stomach (1 hour before eating). Swallow the tablet whole or dissolve in water.
For patients who have difficulty swallowing, the tablet can be dissolved in 1/2 glass of non-carbonated water and no other liquids should be used. Stir well until the tablet dissolves into fine granules and drink it all at once or within 30 minutes after dissolving it. Rinse the glass with 1/2 glass of water then drink.

Side effects that may occur when using the drug are:
