description: Metcor is a drug that contains Methylprednisolone. Methylprednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid type steroid drug. This drug is used to treat conditions such as arthritis, allergies, cancer, skin/kidney/digestive/lung diseases and immune system disorders. Methylprednisolone works by penetrating cell membranes to form a steroid-protein receptor complex. In the cell nucleus, this steroid-protein receptor complex will bind to DNA chromatin and stimulate mRNA transcription which is part of the protein synthesis process. As an anti-inflammatory, this drug suppresses neutrophil migration, reduces the production of prostaglandins (compounds that function as inflammatory mediators), and causes capillary dilation. This will reduce the body's response to inflammatory conditions. When using this medication, you must ACCORD TO THE DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS.
