description: MELOXICAM 15 MG TABLET is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) derived from oxicam. Meloxicam exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activity by reversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 and -2 (COX-1 and -2), thereby inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. This drug is used to relieve arthritis symptoms, such as inflammation, swelling, and muscle stiffness and pain. Examples of inflammatory joint diseases that are usually treated with meloxicam are osteoarthritis (short term), rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Use with caution in patients with asthma, recent history of ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding, hypertension, recent MI, other CV risk factors (eg hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, smoking), fluid retention and edema, hypovolemia, coagulopathy .
