description: Mefoz is a drug used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy and radiotherapy as well as post-surgery. Mefoz contains the active substance ondansetron, a 5HT3 receptor antagonist by inhibiting serotonin from reacting at 5HT3 receptors in the intestines and brain so that nausea will be reduced and the urge to vomit will stop. When using this medication, you must ACCORD TO THE DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS. side_effects: Medication use generally has certain side effects and depends on each individual.

Side effects that may occur when using the drug are: Chest pain, bradycardia, hypotension, arrhythmia, hypoxia, temporary increase in liver enzymes, temporary blurred vision (due to rapid IV injection). Rarely, temporary blindness, extrapyramidal symptoms (e.g. dystonic reactions, oculogyric crisis, dyskinesia), seizures, toxic epidermal necrolysis, serotonin syndrome.
Gastrointestinal disorders: Constipation, diarrhea, hiccups, xerostomia, dyspepsia.
General disorders and admin site conditions: Malaise, fatigue, fever, cold sensation, reaction at the injection site, local burning sensation after supp installation.
Investigation: ECG changes.
Nervous system disorders: Headache, dizziness, sedation, drowsiness, paresthesia.
Psychiatric disorders: Insomnia, anxiety.
Renal and urinary disorders: Urinary retention.
Reproductive system and breast disorders: Gynecological diseases.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Rash, pruritus.
Vascular disorders: Flushing, syncope.
Potentially Fatal: prolongation of the QT interval, torsade de pointes. Rarely, liver failure, anaphylaxis and bronchospasm.

Patients with hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, CHF, CV conduction abnormalities, bradyarrhythmias, other conditions that can cause QT prolongation or electrolyte abnormalities, phenylketonuria, subacute intestinal obstruction, and abdominal surgery. Can mask progressive ileus or gastric distension, and hidden bleeding in adenotonsillar surgery. Moderate to severe liver disorders. Parents and children. Pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Animal studies have not shown any risk to the fetus, but there is no direct research evidence in pregnant women (avoid during the first trimester due to a small increase in the risk of cleft palate defects).
