description: LAPIVA 5/80MG is a drug used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Each capsule contains a combination of the active ingredients Amlodipine and Valsartan. Amlodipine is a calcium antagonist drug which works by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions in active cell membranes. In addition, Amlodipine is able to relax the walls of blood vessels, thereby improving blood flow to the heart and reducing blood pressure. Valsartan belongs to the angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) class of drugs which works selectively on the AT1 subtype receptor which is responsible for the effects caused by angiotensin II and relaxes blood vessels so that blood can flow more smoothly. Valsartan is used to lower blood pressure in people with hypertension and congestive heart failure. When using this medication, you must ACCORD TO THE DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS.
