description: KALNEX 500 MG TABLET is a drug containing 500 mg Tranexamic Acid. Tranexamic acid is a class of anti-fibrinolytic which is used to help stop bleeding in a number of conditions, such as nosebleeds, injuries, bleeding due to excessive menstruation, and bleeding in people with hereditary angio-edema. Tranexamic acid is a competitive inhibitor of plasminogen activator and plasmin inhibitor. Plasmin itself plays a role in destroying fibrinogen, fibrin from other blood clotting factors, therefore Tranexamic Acid can be used to treat bleeding due to excessive fibrinolysis. Other uses of Tranexamic Acid include treating the problem of abnormal bleeding after surgery and reducing bleeding due to tooth extraction in hemophilia sufferers.
