description: FENOFIBRATE CAPSULES belong to the fibrate group. Fenofibrate can reduce blood cholesterol by 20-25% and blood triglycerides by 40-50%.
The reduction in blood cholesterol is caused by a decrease in the ratio of atherogenic low density fractions (VLDL and LDL). Fenofibrate improves plasma cholesterol distribution because it reduces the total cholesterol/HDL ratio which increases during atherogenic hyperlipidemia.
This drug is used to lower serum triglyceride levels and increase HDL (good fat) levels in sufferers of Hypercholesterolemia (type IIa) and endogenous hypertriglyceridemia either isolated (type IV) or associated (type IIb & III) when the adjusted diet is insufficient, when blood cholesterol after dieting is still high and/or if there are associated risk factors. Nervous system disorders: Headache, dizziness.
Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders: Nasopharyngitis, sinusitis, rhinitis.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Rash, pruritus. urticaria, alopecia, photosensitivity.
