description: EXFORGE 10 MG/160 MG is a drug used to treat essential hypertension, especially for patients whose blood pressure cannot be controlled with monotherapy treatment. This drug contains a combination of Amlodipine which is an anti-hypertensive Calcium Chanel Blocker (CCB) and Valsartan which is an anti-hypertensive Angiotensin Receptor Blocker (ARB). Amlodipine works by selectively inhibiting the entry of calcium ions into cell membranes, especially blood vessel smooth muscle cells and heart muscle cells. This drug also acts as a peripheral arterial vasodilator, resulting in a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance and a decrease in blood pressure. Valsartan works selectively and competitively to inhibit vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion by acting selectively as an antagonist to the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor. The combination of these ingredients has an additive antihypertensive effect, reducing blood pressure to a greater extent than either component alone. Nasopharyngitis, influenza, headache, peripheral edema, edema, pitting edema, facial edema, hot flush, fatigue, flushing, asthenia, dizziness, somnolence, postural dizziness, paresthesia, vertigo, tachycardia, palpitations, orthostatic hypotension, cough, pharyngolaryngeal pain, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, constipation, dry mouth, rash, erythema, joint swelling, back pain, arthralgia. Thrombocytopenia, vasculitis, angioedema.

Patients with NA & or volume depletion, unilateral or bilateral renal artery stenosis, stenosis to the solitary kidney, severe renal damage (CrCl < 10 ml/min), liver disorders or biliary obstruction disorders, congestive heart failure, severe CAD, aortic valve stenosis & mitral, obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Monitor K levels. Discontinue if angioderma develops. Children < 18 years old.
