Chloramphenicol's mechanism of action is to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis by interfering with the transfer of amino acids. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid drug used as an anti-inflammatory. Dexamethasone sodium phosphate inhibits phospholipase A, which is the first pathway in prostaglandin synthesis, besides also inhibiting the chemotactic infiltration of neutrophils in the inflammatory process.
