Side effects that may occur when using the drug are: Na & fluid retention, congestive heart failure, K loss, hypokalemic alkalosis, hypertension; gastric ulcer, pancreatitis, abdominal distension, erosive esophagitis, menstrual irregularities, development of Cushingoid state, growth suppression, decreased carbohydrate tolerance, latent DM, increased insulin or oral hypoglycemic requirements in diabetics, hyperglycemia, negative glycosuric & nitrogen balance, osteoporosis, mass loss muscle, thrombophlebitis, signs of closed infection. Dexchlorpheniramine maleate: Drowsiness, CV, hematologic, neurological, GI, genitourinary & respiratory reactions, rash, urticaria, anaphylactic shock, photosensitivity, excessive sweating, chills, dry mouth, nose & throat.

Warning: MUST BE WITH A DOCTOR'S PRESCRIPTION.
Avoid long term use. Hypothyroidism/cirrhosis, ocular herpes simplex, nonspecific ulcerative colitis, possible impending perforation, abscess or other pyogenic infection, diverticulitis, fresh intestinal anastomosis, active or latent peptic ulcer, renal insufficiency, hypertension, osteoporosis, myasthenia gravis. Existing emotional instability or psychotic tendencies. Dietary salt restriction & K supplementation should be considered. Chickenpox, fulminant or disseminated TB. Narrow angle glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, pyroduodenal obstruction, prostatic hypertrophy or bladder neck obstruction, CV disease. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnant & breastfeeding. Children <2 years old. Elderly >60 years.
