description: CIPROFLOXACIN is a generic antibiotic drug derived from Quinolone by inhibiting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, both of which are important in bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair and recombination. This drug is used to treat bacterial infections that are sensitive to ciprofloxacin such as infections of the urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, including typhoid fever caused by S. typhi, respiratory tract (except pneumonia caused by Streptococcus), skin and soft tissue, bones and joints. When using this medication, you must ACCORD TO THE DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS. Not effective in the treatment of syphilis. Reserve use for the treatment of acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, acute uncomplicated cystitis, or acute sinusitis in patients without alternative treatment options.
