Ofloxacin has bactericidal activity, especially against gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus and Klebsiella by inhibiting protein synthesis in these bacterial cells, as well as against sensitive strains of staphylococci including S. aureus and S. epidermidis.
