description: BIATRON is a drug that contains metronidazole. Metronidazole is used for infections by anaerobic germs and other germs that are sensitive to metronidazole, prevention of anaerobic infections before and after surgery, moebiasis and trichomoniasis. Metronidazole works by inhibiting protein synthesis in organisms (bacteria). Metronidazole interacts with DNA after diffusing into the organism, causing instability of the DNA helix structure and DNA strand breakage. Therefore, cell death occurs in disease-causing organisms.
