description: ATORVASTATIN 10 MG is a type of drug in the class of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors or called statins. This drug is used as a diet adjunct to reduce increases in total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo-B & triglycerides in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, combined (mixed) hyperlipidemia & heterozygous & homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia when the response to diet & other non-pharmacological measures is inadequate. Patients who exhibit signs or symptoms suggestive of liver damage should undergo liver function tests.
Patients with acute serious conditions suggestive of myopathy or who have risk factors predisposing to progression to renal failure secondary to rhabdomyolysis should delay or temporarily discontinue therapy.
Patients with hemorrhagic stroke at the start of treatment appear to have a higher risk of experiencing recurrent hemorrhagic stroke.
