description: MEFENAMIC ACID or MEFENAMIC ACID is a drug that is included in the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory group as an anti-pain at mild to moderate levels, by reversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 and -2 (COX-1 and -2), resulting in a decrease in the rate of prostaglandin synthesis and exhibits analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties. Medicines containing Mefenamic Acid are indicated for mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothache, primary dysmenorrhea, including pain due to trauma, muscle pain and post-operative pain.
