This compound is a type 2 cyclooxygenase enzyme inhibitor, so it can reduce the production of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid which causes pain and inflammation. Arcoxia functions to relieve symptoms in osteoarthritis therapy, relieve chronic musculoskeletal pain, relieve acute pain associated with oral surgery.

Advanced kidney disease. Previous significant renal dysfunction, uncompensated heart failure or cirrhosis. Dehydrated patient. Pre-existing edema, hypertension or heart failure. History of CV or other thrombotic effects, GI perforation, ulcer & bleeding (PUB) & patient >65 yrs. Patients treated for infection. Patients who have previously experienced an acute attack of asthma, urticaria or rhinitis.
