This compound is a type 2 cyclooxygenase enzyme inhibitor, so it can reduce the production of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid which causes pain and inflammation. Arcoxia functions to relieve symptoms in osteoarthritis therapy, relieve chronic musculoskeletal pain, relieve acute pain associated with oral surgery.

Patients who have previously experienced an acute attack of asthma, urticaria or rhinitis.
