description: Amtocort is an anti-inflammatory drug containing Triamcinolone Acetonide. Triamcinolone works primarily as a glucocorticoid and has strong anti-inflammatory properties, having hormonal and metabolic effects like cortisone. This drug is used to treat endocrine disorders (primary or secondary adrenocortical insufficiency, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, nonsuppurative thyroiditis, and hypercalcemia associated with cancer), rheumatic disorders (as short-term therapy), collagen diseases (systemic lupus erythematosus and acute rheumatic carditis), dermatological diseases (Pemphigus, bullous dermatitis herpetiformis, severe erythema multiforme (Steven-Johnson syndrome), dermatitis exfoliative, mycosis fungoides and severe psoriasis). Apart from that, this drug can also be used to treat allergies and inflammatory reactions. Triamcinolone works by reducing the inflammatory reaction by preventing the release of hydrolase so that it can reduce capillary wall permeability and edema formation. As well as the antagonistic nature of histamine activity and releasing quinine from the substrate, it causes the formation of new scar tissue.
