description: ALLOPURINOL 300 MG TABLET is a generic drug used to reduce uric acid levels in the blood. This drug works by inhibiting the xanthine oxidase enzyme, thereby inhibiting the formation of uric acid and can also inhibit purine synthesis. The xanthine oxidase enzyme is an enzyme that is responsible for the oxidation of a natural substance in the body called hypoxanthine to become xanthine, and then to uric acid. This drug is used to prevent chronic gout attacks, treat tumor lysis syndrome in chemotherapy which causes severe acute hyperuricemia, treat kidney stones with uric acid and calcium oxalate components (uric acid nephrolithiasis). When using this medication, you must ACCORD TO THE DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS.
